A simple guide to watching sign video clips
When opening a course unit with video clips in it, please wait a minute or two until all the video clips are loaded. This really depends on your internet connection.
- Play – Although we have a ‘Play’ button on all our videos, you can click anywhere on the video screen to start playing. Once the video is finished, you can play it again as often as you want to see the sign.
- Audio – Most of our videos do not have audio except for Kids Basic ISL courses, as it is not needed for learning sign language. Therefore, the video’s’ Audio’ button cannot be used.
- Fullscreen – If you want to take a closer look at one of the signs – you can either click on the fullscreen button at the bottom-right of the clip screen or double-click anywhere on the video screen.
When you want to exit the full screen, you can press the ESC key on your keyboard, click the same button to return to the page or double-click anywhere on the video screen. - Subtitles – Click on the crossed-out ‘CC’ icon to enable the subtitles; the subtitles are available on many conversation videos between two persons throughout the courses. The rest of the videos (e.g. single signing clip) do not have subtitles.
If you see crossed-out ‘CC’ icon appears next to audio icon then this video has the subtitles, click on it and then select ‘English’ to turn on the subtitles.(Note: An example screenshot of the video above does not have a crossed-out ‘CC’ icon, which means it does not have subtitles available).
Don’t forget to click Mark as Completed or Mark Complete to show that you have finished reading each unit/topic of the course.
