Hello. This is a video to update you on Deaforward funding. You might remember that last year, we unexpectedly close due to an immediate cut in our funding which came as a huge surprise to us. This also happened to 23 other organisations too and together, we campaigned against it, lobbying the government to return the funding so that our services could continue.

We received a once off grant known as “bridge funding” (which is only temporary for one year) and was to last until the 30th June 2015. We have been lobbying the government with regard to continuing the funding and finally, we received a formal announcement today (before our funding runs out) that we will receive a formal extension on our funding which will be another “bridge funding” from the 1st July 2015 to June 2016.

In 2016, there will be a new round of applications for SSNO funding which is slightly disappointing as this means we will have to apply all over again and as a result, we are unable to guarantee our service continuing from June 2016. However, I am delighted to say that we are safe for now, until at least June 2016. The total amount received by 30 organisations was €1.32 million which will be divided out. This bridge funding applies only to those who were unsuccessful in the last SSNO round of funding last Summer and all applicants of SSNO funding will have to apply for funding in 2016.
