Residential Institutions Statutory Fund

A new body Residential Institutions Statutory Fund has been announced last Monday! It will start to function tomorrow (I know its Good Friday but the statement said it). It will replace EFB.

Tomorrow – Goodbye EFB and welcome RISF and hope the latter will be better than EFB. I sent a personal submission to the Minister about importance for Deaf survivors’ access through ISL and that application to be more accessible and simple, preferably through ISL.

I expect more funding to be available to support Deaf survivors with further education such as university (I got my BA and MLitt thanks to funding from EFB though a bit of hard work to get it but I got there in the end), counselling support (private or public and interpreters), support for survivors’ partners/spouse and their children.
