New Brand Name: Deaf Sports Ireland

Irish Deaf Sports Association delegates approved the change of its name to “Deaf Sports Ireland” – DSI in short and the adoption of new Constitution & By-Laws at their EGM held on Saturday 3rd December 2011 which modernise the new system of management which will be smaller. The main reason for the change is to register DSI as a charitable body. It is to be in operation from 1st January 2012.

IDSA’s 43rd Annual General Meeting was to follow in the afternoon and it was concluded within 2 hours. Eoin Nolan was elected as the new General Secretary and he is the youngest in IDSA’s history. Under the new Constitution the next 44th AGM will take place during the Easter Weekend in conjunction with the Inter-Provincial Football & Basketball Championships in Westport, Co. Mayo.

There will be a special occasion to mark the 40th anniversary of Inter Provincial Men’s Football Championship and the official launch of a new DSI logo & new website and there will be a photo exhibition during the Easter weekend.
