All income raised in this collection, go towards the overhead costs of our Centre in Tralee. Our sincere thanks to you all. We really appreciate everyone’s support.
ONGOING DELAY WITH EQUIPMENT GRANT SCHEME (MSAA/RAGS)
As many of you know, the HSE funds a grant scheme for equipment for Deaf and hard of hearing clients via our service & DeafHear Killarney. For reasons
outside of our KDRC’s control, there continues to be a delay in funding for 2016 applications.
Unfortunately, we have not been given any further information as to when this funding will be put in place. Therefore, we will continue deferring new
applications until the 2016 funding is in place. Applications will re-start ASAP thereafter.
CATHERINE LANDERS- WINNER OF CORK LORD MAYOR’s VOLUNTARY AWARD 2016
We would like to extend our congratulations to Catherine Landers in Cork who was selected as a winner in their recent Lord Mayor’s Voluntary Awards 2016.
Catherine leads the Deaf Folks Group, a social group for elderly Irish Sign Language users from Cork city, county and beyond as far as Co. Kerry. The group meets fortnightly at Cork Deaf Association (CDA).
CDA in a recent Facebook post say “Catherine is a volunteer and a very valued member of CDA. She has been with us for almost 15 years and never ceases to amaze us with her dynamism, extraordinary work ethic & caring attitude and approach.
She has been instrumental in a diverse range of CDA initiatives from kid’s camps, to creative community activities and social support groups for the Deaf Community. She is also heavily involved in the promotion of Deaf issues and is a compassionate, professional and highly committed advocate for our service users”
