SUBTITLED MOVIES IN TRALEE.
Our service has been in regular contact with Tralee Omniplex regarding
subtitled movies. They have just informed us they are hoping to show
subtitled movies the 1st Monday or Tuesday of the month at around 8 pm. To
check if a film is subtitled, go to the Tralee listings:

Tuesday. Subtitled film should have ‘Subs’ or ‘Subtitled’ written alongside
the time movie is shown.

IRISH DEAF SOCIETY (IDS) ROADSHOWS
The IDS roadshows are commencing again. The IDS’s trained Peer Advocates
will be visiting areas throughout the country and will present information
on a wide range of topics in sign language.

3. EU and Local May Elections
4. Caranua – update application process and services
5. Know Your Rights – two cases studies
6. IDS – update information on three areas

IRISH SIGN LANGUAGE (ISL) QUESTIONNAIRE
The Irish Deaf Society (IDS) are undertaking an Irish Sign Language (ISL)
quantitative survey to indicate a more accurate number of ISL users in
Ireland. According to the census of 2011, only 1,077 Deaf people declared
they used ISL and 2,590 used ISL in general. If you would like to complete
the survey (one-page only), contact Geraldine Broderick in our Centre.
ANNE SULLIVAN CENTRE FOR DEAFBLIND RESEARCH.
The Anne Sullivan Centre for Deafblind provides support to Deafblind adults
from the age of 21 – 45. The National Council for the Blind in Ireland
(NCBI) is assisting them by distributing a questionnaire to a sample of
their service users. They are doing this on behalf of the Research
Co-ordinator, Laura English.
Aims of the study:
The primary objective of the study is to gain a more accurate picture of the
number of Deafblind individuals in Ireland. In addition the project aims
to:
· Discover the age profile and location of people who are Deafblind
· Determine the different levels of sensory impairment that exist
· Gain a greater understanding of the prevalence of various conditions
relating to Deafblindness
· Gather basic information on the services that people who are Deafblind are
availing of
· Highlight the campaign for Deafblindness to be recognised as a separate
and unique disability in Irish Law
· Meet international standards in Deafblind research and service provision
Who can participate?
Anyone with a combined vision and hearing loss, which causes difficulty with
communication, access to information and mobility can participate. If you
feel that this study is relevant to you, you can participate by taking part
in the research. Of course the choice as to whether or not you participate
is entirely yours. If you have any questions about this research you can

CORK DEAF CLUB EASTER TABLE QUIZ
A table quiz will take place on Tuesday 8 April at 7.30 pm at Cork Deaf
Club. Entry will cost 40 euro per table (four people). Raffle tickets are
3 euro per strip and an Easter Hamper is also included. Everyone is
welcome!
DUBLIN DEAF ASSOCIATION EASTER BINGO
Dublin Deaf Association will hold a Bingo evening at Cabragh Hall on
Saturday 12 April at 8 pm. A raffle will take place on the night so why not
turn up for what looks to be a very enjoyable evening.
IRISH DEAF FILM FESTIVAL
The Irish Deaf Film Festival will be held this year from the 10 – 12 October
