Kerry Deaf Resource Centre Update 23.11.15

INTERPRETING  ACCESS  FOR  DOCTOR  APPOINTMENTS
Would you like a sign language interpreter when you visit your local Doctor (GP)?

Did you know that we have a GP Access Policy with the HSE (Health Service Executive) in Co. Kerry? This policy explains how an interpreter can be provided and paid by the HSE.

To book an interpreter for a Doctor’s appointment, contact a staff member here (of your choice), as an email must be sent to the HSE to get approval for the payment. Once the request has been approved, our service can also book the interpreter on your behalf. All information will be treated with the strictest of confidentiality.

If you prefer to keep the appointment confidential & would prefer to book the interpreter direct, please be aware that an email must still be sent to the HSE for approval of payment.

Further information is available in our GP Access Policy. If you would like a copy, please let us know.

INTERPRETING ACCESS AT KERRY GENERAL HOSPITAL
Would you like a sign language interpreter for In-patient/Out-patient
appointments in the Kerry General Hospital? If yes, the Kerry General
Hospital will pay for the interpreter.

You can book the interpreter directly yourself or a staff member here (of
your choice) can book the interpreter for you. All information will be
treated with the strictest of confidentiality.

If you book the interpreter directly, please inform them they must get a
hospital staff member to sign an “Attendance Sheet” and submit that with
their invoice to the Accounts Dept.

THANK  YOU  TO  CHURCH  COLLECTIONS
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the following Churches in
Ballymac, Firies & Ballyhar & their parishioners for supporting our Church
Collection at the weekend.

The income generated from these collections directly support clients living
in the area. Our sincere thanks to everyone for their support and in
particular to the volunteers especially in this cold & wet weather
conditions.

THANK  YOU  TO  BOARD  &  STAFF  OF  CORK  DEAF  ENTERPRISES
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Cork Deaf Enterprises (CDE)
for inviting our Manager to meet with their Board of Directors in their
Centre last week. The meeting was part of CDE’s organisational review, which
will also contribute to its future planning process.

Willie also had the opportunity to meet with CDE staff prior to meeting with
Board members. As part of his talk, Willie also gave an overview of the
services provided by our Centre.

CDE provides training and employment to Deaf individuals with an interest in
the restoration of furniture and in particular re-upholstery and French
polishing. If you would like more information on Cork Deaf Enterprises, go
