FUNDRAISER FOR CORK/KERRY ELDERLY DEAF GROUP
A fundraiser is to be held in aid of the Cork and Kerry Elderly Deaf Group
on Saturday 8th November at 7 pm in the Cork Deaf Association at 5 Mac
Curtain Street, Cork City. The film, Psychopath, which stars Deaf actors,
will be screened on the evening. Tickets cost 10euro and include light
refreshments.
IRISH DEAF LADIES FUTSAL TEAM IN EUROPEAN COMPETITION
Deaf Sports Ireland will be sending a Ladies Futsal Team to the European
Deaf Futsal Championship, which will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria from the
19th to 29th November 2014. Michelle Ward from Tralee has also been
selected for the Irish team.
The team are looking for financial sponsorship to cover travel,
accommodation and other necessities. As the competition is only weeks away,
they are now seeking donations from individuals & companies. Any assistance

ITV SIGNPOST FREELANCE ON-SCREEN PRESENTERS
ITV SignPost are looking for freelance on-screen presenters to work with
their award-winning and highly skilled team based in Gateshead,
Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Presenters of all ages are required to be either
fluent in Irish Sign Language (ISL) as their first language or have a
recognised university interpreting and translating degree qualification.
You should also have skills in telling children’s stories in sign language,
experience in translating information for TV, websites or DVDs, a background
in acting or drama, enthusiasm and commitment to produce high quality sign
language translations and are able to work under pressure to tight delivery
deadlines.

ISL EVERYWHERE – APP NOW AVAILABLE ON ANDROID AND IPHONE
Sharing the Journey, whose aim is to support families of deaf and hard of
hearing children learning ISL, developed ISL Everywhere. They are very
happy to announce that it is now available to download on your android or
iPhone/ iPad for free.
The app features ‘Getting Started’ – a key to understanding Irish Sign
Language, ISL- alphabet and numbers, and an extensive glossary of the most
commonly used words and phrases in a young child’s life.
