FUNDRAISER CYCLE FOR ETHIOPIA DEAF PROJECT
The Ambo Ramble Fundraiser Cycle for the Ethiopia Deaf Project will take
place on Sunday, the 28th of June. It will take place in Ballinhassig in
Cork.
The Ethiopia Deaf Project is a 100% voluntary charity that has built and is
supporting a school for deaf children in Ambo Ethiopia. All money raised
from this year cycle will go towards building a classroom for deaf children
aged 4-7. Our own Willie, Veronica and Steven White have visited the school
in Ethiopia and worked with the local Deaf community there.
Registration takes place in Marion Hall, Ballinhassig at 8.30am. Cyclists
will start at 9am for the 130km route/ 9.30am for the 40km route.
This year the 130Km is taking the back road to Kinsale, out to the Old Head,
into Garretstown, taking the coastal road to Clonakilty. This is where the
organisers have a pit stop with plenty of food and delicious cakes. Cyclists
can stop to eat and chat before heading off cross country toward Ballineen/
Enniskeane, Bandon, Crossbarry and back to Ballinhassig from where the cycle
originally started.
The 40Km takes the back road to Bandon via Halfway and Crossbarry, then down
the steep hill into Bandon. A water and fruit stop will be just on the
outskirts of Bandon. Cyclists will then head back the main Bandon–Cork road
to Ballinhassig.
Once again there will be lovely food from O’Cruoloai’s, more cakes and
plenty of fun. Cyclists will also be able to avail of hot showers & parking.
This is one of the last big cycles before the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle
and would be an ideal training opportunity for those cycling in that event
too.
Registration is now open and only costs 30euro & includes a free t-shirt.
