UPCOMING GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS IN 2016
It is expected that the Irish Government will announce a General Election for 2016.

To prepare & empower the Deaf Community, the Irish Deaf Society (IDS) has put together a PowerPoint presentation that they would like us to share with our readers. The IDS are also in the process of putting together a Manifesto for the Deaf Community.

This will focus on issues such as:
· Irish Sign Language (ISL) Recognition Act.
· Ratify and Implement the UN Convention
· Speedy Implementation of Five Most Urgent Priorities (as agreed in November 2013)

The IDS plans to:
· Contact each political party asking them what plans they have for ISL recognition including Fine Gael, Fianna Fail, Sinn Fein, Labour & others
· Aim to get all parties to include ISL recognition in their manifestos
· Parliamentary Party meetings
· Employ a part time worker

The PowerPoint presentation is attached to this email. For more information on any of the points in it, please contact the IDS directly.
