Kerry Deaf Resource Centre Update 16.09.13

MONTHLY MASS IN SIGN LANGUAGE.
Our next mass in sign language will be held on the 29th of September in St.
John’s Pastoral Centre in Tralee. The mass will be held at 3pm.

Veronica White has interpreted this mass for the past 13 years. Over the
last 9 years, Veronica was also employed by the NCDP as Lay Chaplain and
greatly enhanced access for the local Deaf community to religious events and
training. Veronica will be finishing up with her role in NCDP at the end of
September so this will be her last mass. If you would like to meet with
Veronica before she finishes up, come along to the mass or afterwards when
tea & coffee is served.

ACCESS TO FUTURE RELIGIOUS EVENTS & TRAINING.
At this stage, we are unsure what access will be available locally to
religious events in Co. Kerry once Veronica finishes up in her role with the
NCDP. We would recommend that you contact your local religious provider and
inform them of your access needs.

In addition, the NCDP may be able to support you. For more information,
contact Fr. Gerard Tyrell, Director NCDP, Deaf Village Ireland, Ratoath Rd,
Dublin. Mobile: 087 286 0704, Fax: 01 8600284, Email: [email protected]

DEAF ADULT LITERACY (DALS) CLASSES
We have been informed by DALS that classes will be available in Co. Kerry
over the coming weeks. Tutors are being sourced at the moment and a
timetable will be available in due course. Due to cuts, there will be a
reduction in the number of subjects available. Instead of 3 subjects,
students will be able to apply for computers or English/personal
development.

THANK YOU TO SUPERVALU KILLARNEY.
We would like to say a big thank you to Supervalu Killarney for allowing us

customers of Supervalu Killarney.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to the volunteers who organised a
Street Collection on Friday in Castleisland. We are very grateful for your
hard work and support. Our sincere thanks also to all those who contributed
financially on the day.
