Kerry Deaf Resource Centre Update 16.06.14

THANK YOU TO VOLUNTEERS IN OUR TRALEE STREET COLLECTION
We would like to extend our thanks to all those who volunteered last Friday
13th June in our Street Collection here in Tralee. Luckily the sun was
shining and made the day very enjoyable for all concerned. If you are able
to volunteer for the next collection in Listowel on Friday 27th June please
let us know here in the Centre.

CODA TRIP TO ETHIOPIA TO WORK WITH AMBO DEAF COMMUNITY
On the 28th of July, our Manager Willie White, along with Veronica White,
Steven White, Ashley Canne (USA), Megan Canne (USA) Kayla Canne (USA) will
be travelling to Ethiopia to provide workshops and training to the Deaf
community in Ambo, Ethiopia. All six are CODA’s (Children of Deaf Adults).
Susan O’Callaghan who is Deaf and works with the Cork Deaf Association will
join them. While they are in Ethiopia, they hope to link in with a small
Deaf group from Holland who are on a trip being organised by a Dutch travel
agent who is also a CODA.

If you would like to make a donation, you can do so online at
www.gofundme.com/ethiopiadeafproject or you can send your donation to our
Centre. We would like to wish the group all the best with their work in
Ethiopia. We are sure the Deaf community there will benefit greatly from
their skills & experience and equally teach the Irish & American group alot
too.

BEST OF LUCK TO IRISH DEAF CHANNEL SWIMMERS.
A special best of luck message from all of us here at the Centre to

huge challenge of swimming across the English Channel on the 1st July. The
ladies are raising money for the Irish Deaf Women’s Group (IDWG), which is a
voluntary group that aims to empower Irish Deaf women through information,
events, workshops and services. See their Facebook page for more
information about the event: https://www.facebook.com/idcs2014
