JUST VLOGGING- ISL VLOGS ON FACEBOOK
‘Just Vlogging’ is a fantastic Facebook group where people can submit clips in sign language for other people to view and comment on.
Vlogging is becoming very popular in the Deaf community. People sit down in front of their video camera or web camera and record themselves talking about a range of issues of interest to the Deaf community. Once they record themselves, they upload their videos and share their opinions with the closed group.

IRISH DEAF CHANNEL SWIMMERS WIN AWARD
Many congratulations to the Irish Deaf Channel Swimmers who won the Sheena Patterson Spirit of the Year Award at ILDSA (Irish Long Distance Swimming Association) Leinster in Bray on Saturday 31st January 2015. The Irish Deaf Women’s Group (IDWG) Chairperson, Gaye Regan, and Board Member, Mary Nolan, attended the ILDSA Awards Dinner Evening to celebrate with the swimmers who received the award.

INFORMATION SESSION FOR STUDYING IN TRALEE IT
Are you Deaf or hard of hearing and interested in studying in the Institute of Technology Tralee. If yes, the Institute of Technology Tralee (ITT) is once again offering its Information Seminar for Senior Cycle Students with Disabilities and their parents/guardians. This event will take place on Friday 27th February 2015 from 10am to 1pm in the Institute of Technology, Sólás Building, North Campus, Tralee.
If you are interested in attending and require a sign language interpreter to access this event please email the Access Officer: [email protected] or 066 7191682. If you would like to receive an itinerary and a booking form, you can contact Valerie. The booking form will need to be completed and returned to the ITT by 20th February.
This event may also be of interest to teachers, guidance counsellors, support workers and related agencies. All are welcome to attend, please use the booking form attached.
AMBO PATRICK’S DAY PLUNGE
The “Ambo Plunge” is happening again on St. Patrick’s Day at 12 md at Footy Foot, Sandycove, Dublin. This event was hugely successful last year & the organisers are hoping for a great turnout again this year. Entry is 10euro to jump/dive/dip or swim. IF you prefer not to enter, you can still donate 10euro & stand back and watch others as they take the teeth chattering plunge.
The organisers are asking everyone to wear green on the day, hats, accessories, hair, clothes whatever you can find to wear and of course, great Paddy’s Day craic to be followed in Fitzgerald’s pub (Dún Laoghaire) afterwards!
100% of funds go straight to the Ambo School for the Deaf in Ethiopia! All are welcome so spread the word!!
30th ANNUAL CODA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
We would like to remind everyone of the 30th Annual CODA (Children of Deaf Adults) International Conference which will be held in Wokefield Park, Reading, England from Thursday afternoon 16th July to 1 pm Sunday, 19th July 2015.
Your registration fee includes accommodation and ALL meals from Thursday evening right through until Sunday Brunch. So, dinner Thursday, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday, and brunch on Sunday, entertainment, workshops and breakout mini sessions.
If you register before 1st April 2015 Members pay GBP400 and Non-Members GBP421. Registration from 2nd April – 31st June 2015 is Members: GBP415 and for Non-Members: GBP436. Final Rate is Members: GBP430 and Non-Members GBP457 from 1st July onwards. Non-member rate includes membership for the year.
