HAPPY  NEW  YEAR!
On behalf of our Board, staff and members, we would like to wish all our clients, customers and supporters a very Happy New Year.  Hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas.

OPENING  HOURS  FOR  2015
Our opening hours for 2015 will be Monday to Thursday (10am – 1pm and 2pm – 5pm) and Friday 10am – 1pm.  To make sure we provide you with the best service, we would recommend that you make an appointment in advance if you would like to meet with a particular staff member.  To make an appointment, you can text 087 633 4687 or email [email protected]

CRAFT  CLASSES  AND  SOCIAL  GET  TOGETHER
Our craft classes and social get-together will restart after our Christmas
break on Thursday 15th January.  Christina O’Donoghue will run the classes
every Thursday from 2pm – 4pm.  This will be your opportunity to learn new
arts and craft skills and participate in game sessions such as jenga and
cards.  There will be plenty of time too for chat and tea and coffee.

INFORMATION  EVENING – INSTITUTE  OF  TECHNOLOGY  TRALEE (IT TRALEE)
Are you thinking of attending third level education in September 2015?  Are
you a current Leaving Certificate, FETAC or VTOS student?  Or maybe you are
mature applicant and thinking of returning to education.  The IT Tralee are
holding an information evening on Tuesday 13th January at 6pm in the
Business IT Building, North Campus for anyone interested including parents
and friends.

The Admissions team will help you complete your CAO application if you are
not sure how to apply to the CAO.  Bring your PPS number and Debit/Credit
card with you.  CAO applications are 25 euro before 20th January 2015.

Some of the questions that you may have will be covered on the night
including:
Are there options other than CAO?  Where will I go for financial assistance?
What is SUSI?  I am a mature applicant – what can I do?  I have a FETAC
award – is there a 3rd level course for me?   I am currently on Job Seekers
Allowance – what can I do?  Are there financial supports available while I
study?  I have a learning disability – will I be supported?

Other topics covered include: Life as an IT Tralee Student.  I am a parent
and would like some information.  I am not sure where I should go.
Drop in information sessions will be provided in relation to the following
from 7pm.  A Career in the Computing and I.T. Sector.  A Career in the world
of Business.

ETHIOPIA  DEAF  PROJECT – SCHOOL FOR  THE  DEAF  TWO  YEAR  ANNIVERSARY
The 6th January 2015 marked the 2nd Anniversary of the opening of the Ambo
Lazarist Deaf School (ALDS), in Ambo, Ethiopia.  The Ethiopia Deaf Project
would like to convey their thanks for all your generosity and support.  It
has been another very successful year for the students who achieved very
good results in their State exams.

In 2015 they hope to build another classroom and laboratory to facilitate
the transition of students in to Grade 8.  It is part of the Ambo Lazarist
Deaf School’s plans to develop a Vocational Training Centre for older
members of the Deaf community in Ambo.  Such a centre would ensure they
could develop a trade or life skill that will ensure their independence.

IRISH  SIGN  LANGUAGE  CLASSES
Irish Sign Language Classes are starting in the Deaf Community Centre, 96a
O’Connell Street, Limerick City, this January 2015.  Cost €220.00 for 20
weeks FETAC (QQI) Accredited Level 3 – taught by a qualified ISL teacher
from the Centre for Deaf Studies at Trinity College Dublin.  The course
starts Thursday 29th January from 7pm – 9pm.  If you are interested payment
