Caitríona O’ Brien is an Irish student doing a Masters course in Applied Linguistics at the University of Oxford.
For her Masters research, she is looking at the identity of CODAs (Children of Deaf Adults) in Ireland. Caitríona is looking for hearing adults who were raised by Deaf parent(s) to discuss language, culture and identity.
Participation will involve completing a short questionnaire about language use and identity and, if you are willing, being interviewed by Caitríona about your questionnaire responses. If you would be interested in taking part, or would like more information please feel free to contact her by email [email protected]

CONFERENCE ON DEAF EDUCATION
Andrew Geary is a hearing parent of a deaf child who is hoping to organise a Conference focusing on “Deaf Education”.
The possible dates for the conference will either be the 17th, 24th September or the 1st October 2016. The venue will be in Portlaoise to make it easy for people to travel to from all parts of Ireland.
Andrew hopes that the conference will attract the whole rainbow of the Deaf community from ISL users, technology users, family, support networks, and most obviously teachers, educators and the Public Service.
Andew says “The main aim is, it is to raise a flag, that we the Deaf Community have been treated with a total lack of equality and the time for this is over. The Deaf community through education has a chance of an ‘equalising tool’.
Andrew is looking for your thoughts, ideas, & suggestions. If you would like to share them with him, you can email him at [email protected]
