Kerry Deaf Resource Centre Update 09.12.13

We would like to thank everyone who turned up for our Christmas Party in
Stokers Lodge on Sunday. We would also like to thank Fr. Nolan who said Mass
before the party at 1pm and to Veronica White for interpreting. We were
lucky to have Santa turn up too. Luckily for our deaf kids, Santa had sign
language and our deaf kids were able to chat with Santa and tell them what
they wanted for Christmas in sign language.

We would like to thank all the staff in Stokers Lodge for their hospitality
and hard work. The food was amazing and enjoyed by everyone.

Our sincere thanks to all the shops and businesses in Tralee that sponsored
spot prizes. It has been a challenging year for alot of businesses with the
current recession and we really appreciate their continued support.

Our sincere thanks to everyone that helped us organise the party and help
out on the day.

We would like to thank everyone who submitted nominations for our Supporter
Awards. The following were acknowledged for their support of our service and
our clients during 2013. Both winners were presented with a framed
certificate and a box of chocolates.

Helen O’Donoghue who has Deaf siblings was acknowledged with a Supporter of
the Year Award for outstanding support shown to our service in 2013. This
included organising a fundraising day in Supervalu Killarney, for selling
Ethiopia Deaf Project calendars, securing spot prizes for our Christmas
party, baking cakes for our staff & clients, for promoting awareness of our
service & furthering her sign language skills and Deaf Awareness.

Johnny Prendergast was acknowledged with an Outstanding Contribution Award
for developing ‘Interpreting Access’ cards, taking responsibility for sign
language materials for students, assisting with Street Collections,
assisting & participating in ITT sports & leisure activities, securing spot
prizes for our Christmas party, and for working closely with staff & clients
of our service.

The Deaf Community Centre (DCC) would like to invite you to a Mass in sign
language, which will be celebrated by Fr. Ger Tyrell from the National
Chaplaincy for Deaf People (NCDP).
