DEAFHOOD WORKSHOPS IN LIMERICK AND CORK
John Bosco Conama (Ph.D, M. Litt, BA) will present/ facilitate a series of
all day workshops “What is Deafhood” How can we see ourselves in the world?
Why are our experiences as Deaf people important in understanding our
struggles / presence in the society?
John Bosco Conama is the former chairperson of the Irish Deaf Society, and
Higher Executive Officer in the Training Branch of the Revenue Commissioners
(currently on career leave). John Bosco completed his PhD and graduated last
June. He is currently working as the Acting Director of Centre for Deaf
Studies, Trinity College Dublin.
Two workshops will be held in Limerick on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th
January 2011 in the Deaf Community Centre, 96A O?onnell St.
Two workshops will also be held in Cork on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th
January 2011 at Cork Deaf Centre, 5 McCurtain St.
Admission is 150 euro for both workshops including lunch.
Spaces are limited so book early. Deadline for bookings is the 7th of

ESTABLISHMENT OF NEW SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER COUNCIL (CISLI).
We would like to send our best wishes to the newly established Council of
Irish Sign Language Interpreters (CISLI).
This body will be a forum for hearing and Deaf sign language interpreters
working in Ireland. CISLI has been established in working partnership with
the Irish Deaf Society (IDS). The IDS has two representatives and they are
Fiona Foley /IDS Board Member and Eddie Redmond/HR Manager IDS.
Interpreters and the Deaf community will now have representation and full
access to information on ISL Interpreters and interpreting matters. If you

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF INTERPRETER EDUCATION- CALL FOR MANUSCRIPTS
The International Journal of Interpreter Education, published by the
Conference of Interpreter Trainers, is a refereed journal that specialises
in the education of spoken and signed language interpreters for the purpose
of promoting dialogue through evidence and practice-based research.
Manuscripts are sought from translation and interpreting pedagogy scholars
on the following topics:
Interpreter Education and Training.
Second Language Learning.
Educational Theory.
Programming and Administration.
Interpreting Research.
Interpreting Practice.
Notes for specific requirements on submitting a manuscript for publication

CLOSING DATES FOR CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS
Just to inform all our clients, we will close for our annual Christmas
holidays at 1pm on Wednesday 22nd of Dec and will reopen in the New Year on
the 5th of January.
