Kerry Deaf Resource Centre Update 03.02.2020

CENTRE FOR DEAF STUDIES (CDS) STUDENT PLACEMENT & RESEARCH.
In a previous update, we mentioned we have a student on placement for 8 weeks from the Centre for Deaf Studies (CDS) in Trinity College (TCD).

Here is some background to Heidi “Hello, my name is Heidi Veldheer and I’m a 4th year interpreting student at the Centre for Deaf Studies in Trinity College Dublin. I’m currently on placement at KDRC for 8 weeks and have really enjoyed my time here so far. I am originally from Holland, but have
have been living in Ireland for the past 20 years. I am based in Ennis, Co. Clare. Once I am qualified as an interpreter I hope to be working along the west coast of Ireland and am looking forward to working with you all”.

I am also working on a research project aimed at Deaf adults in Ireland who have gotten a cochlear implant after the age of 18 and their experience of working with interpreters. If you are interested in taking part in this research, below is the link to my online survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HPZMYXX. The survey is completely anonymous.

There is also a video available with the survey questions translated into Irish Sign Language (ISL): https://vimeo.com/384739473 (password: Cochlear)
