FAREWELL TO STAFF MEMBER FRANCES WOODLEY
On Friday we said a fond farewell and thank you to Frances Woodley who has worked with us for the past two years. Sadly due to funding restrictions, we were unable to keep Frances permanently. She has been a great worker and support to our customers & staff.
We would like to thank her for all her hard work. She will be missed by the people who got to know her well here in the Centre. We would like to wish her well with her future career.
THANK YOU TO CASTLEISLAND STREET COLLECTION VOLUNTEERS
We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who volunteered at our
Street Collection in Castleisland on Friday. A particular word of thanks to

We had the honour of welcoming Vice President of CODA International
(Children of Deaf Adults), Dr. Jennifer Hensley & Deaf colleague Dr. Patrick
Graham, Assistant Professor in Western Oregon University to our Centre last
week.
Our thanks to Willie, Catherine, Veronica, Rodney, Connor, Johnny, Patrick,
Geraldine, Paul & Mary for meeting with them and for showing them around our
beautiful county and our Centre too.

CONGRATULATIONS TO A NEWLY MARRIED COUPLE
We would like to extend our congratulations and best wishes to Lorraine
Leeson, Director of the Centre for Deaf Studies in Trinity College & Haaris
Sheikh of the Interesource Group who got married in Limerick at the weekend.
Best wishes to them on a long and happy married life together.
KDWG’s ZUMBA & SALSA CHRISTMAS PARTY
The Kerry Deaf Women’s Group (KDWG) are holding their Christmas Party on
Saturday 14th November in the Ashe Hotel, Maine Street, Tralee at 7.30pm.
Tickets costs 45euro and will include a mulled wine reception, four course
dinner, beautiful dance performances and workshop with Zumba instructor,
Linda Flanagan and professional Latin dancers from London, Arthur and Aiste.
There will also be late dancing with amazing DJ Nat. B&B at the hotel will
cost 40euro per person sharing or 60euro for a single room.

also need to let her know in advance if you are on a special diet e.g.

170th ANNIVERSARY OF CATHOLIC INSTITUTE FOR DEAF
To mark the 170th Anniversary of the Catholic Institute for Deaf (CID)
1845-2015, a Remembrance Mass in honour of CID co-founder, Rev. Monsignor
William Yore, will be held in the Emmaus Chapel, Deaf Village Ireland, on
Sunday 8th November at 12noon.
Archbishop Diarmuid Martin will be the main celebrant. DHC will also
present an historical talk on the life of Rev. Yore in the DHC Hall after
the Mass.
IRISH DEAF SOCIETY SANTA FUN RUN
The Irish Deaf Society (IDS) is organising a 5km Santa Fun Run on Sunday,
the 29th of November. This fundraiser for the Deaf community promises to be
an enjoyable event.
It will start at 12noon in the Phoenix Park in Dublin. It costs 15euro per
adult and 5euro per child (under 12). Participants will get a free Santa
t-shirt, hat, a prize and refreshment. The deadline for registration is the
22nd of November. You can register online or directly to the IDS, Deaf
Sports Ireland (DSI) or at Deaf Village Ireland (DVI).
DEAFHEAR KILLARNEY CHRISTMAS PARTY
DeafHear Killarney will be holding their Christmas Party on Tuesday 8th
December from 2pm at 10 Fleming’s Lane Killarney. There will be party food,
arts and crafts, family activities and a visit from Santa! Everyone is
