Irish Deaf.com’s bagpacking and charity fundraising in 2014

fundraising 1We wish to thank Tesco Ireland and other supermarkets for supporting our bagpacking and charity fundraising in 2014.

Despite 2014 being a difficult year compared to 2013, due to reduced bagpacking bookings; however, we have been able to continue to offer this service. We are delighted to offer support to charities in the Deaf community. So far, over €830,000 has been paid out since 2004 and during 2014 over €35,000 was paid out to the following beneficiaries;

  • Tallaght Deaf Club
  • Deaf Sports Ireland
  • Irish Deaf Women’s Group
  • Irish Deaf Youth Association
  • Deaf Greenbow
  • Aware & Temple Street Children’s Hospital (Tesco Charity)

fundraising 2While the figure is lower than previous years due to less bookings, demand increased during December with a number of stores requesting us to bagpack and this allowed us to raise more money. We wish to thank Tesco Ireland for bookings and especially one store in particular for asking us to raise money on behalf of Aware and Temple Street Children’s Hospital. In Tesco Balbriggan, we raised over €16,000 over a few days, beating the previous year’s figure, see https://www.facebook.com/irishdeaf/posts/698139236883662. This is the highest ever we have raised in any one store since we began our fundraising service eleven years ago. The sum paid out was much to the delight of Tesco Balbriggan and is much needed Temple Street Children’s Hospital

Thanks to all the customers who donated and gave gifts for charity and our great team of bagpackers and supervisors!
