COMPUTER AND LITERACY CLASSES.
The Deaf Adult Literacy Service (DALS) provides a range of classes for Deaf
adults throughout Ireland. As part of this service, computer and literacy
classes have been provided in our Centre in Tralee. Classes normally run
during the academic year (funding permitting).
If you are keen to join any of these classes, please let us know as
application forms need to be submitted to DALS. Classes normally run during

SNA CUTS- HANDS ON ITEM.
By the end of 2011 the government will remove over 200 SNAs from schools
around the country in order to meet targets within the National Recovery
Most special schools will keep their existing number of SNAs, but many
mainstream schools will lose some of theirs. The government believes that
despite these cuts students will still have access to the SNA support that

topic in an upcoming programme and we would like to hear from anyone who has
been affected by these cuts – whether you are a parent of a child who
requires SNA support, a teacher, or an SNA – we would like to hear about

The NDA Conference 2011 will take place in Croke Park, Jones Road, Dublin,

EVENTS WITH NCDP.
The National Chaplaincy for Deaf People arranges various events for Deaf
people in Cork and Kerry via our own Veronica White.
Once a month, a mass in sign language is held in Kerry and in Cork.
Transport for Kerry based Deaf people can be arranged for the Cork mass
(limited numbers). In addition, there are activities for elderly Deaf people
living in both counties in conjunction with the Cork Deaf Centre.
The NCDP also travel to Lourdes every September. This year, they also
attended the World Youth conference in Madrid and will be heading to Cardiff
this week for a conference.

DEAF RAPPER “SIGNMARK”.
World-renowned Deaf rapper SIGNMARK is making his Irish debut this November
5th at the Dandelion Nightclub. The event will be accessible to both Deaf
Tickets cost 20euro before the 1st of Oct. Thereafter, they will cost
30euro. This promises to be an amazing night. If you would like to attend,

The Irish Deaf Society is organising another event as part its 30th
Anniversary celebrations. It will be a one-day “Deafhood” congress. It will
be held on the 5th of Nov at the Chartered Accountant House, Pearse St.
