Welcome to Deaf Village Ireland!
I hope this newsletter finds you all well. On behalf of Deaf Village Ireland, I would like to update you on recent news and activities that are happening around Deaf Village Ireland.
Many things happened around Deaf Village Ireland over the last few months. On Monday the 4th of March 2013, Deaf Village Ireland was officially opened by Minister Leo Varadkar, from the Department of Tourism, Sport and Transport. There was an unbelievable atmosphere around Deaf Village on the day of the launch. It was estimated that 600 people joined in celebrating the launch of Deaf Village Ireland. The Board of Management and members of Staff would like to sincerely thank all who came to join with them in celebrating our special day! You can find our launch article here.
In May 2013, we had an exciting event in Deaf Village Ireland. Archbishop Diarmuid Martin said Mass in Deaf Village Ireland at 6pm with over 200 people attending this lovely event. Afterwards about another 200 people came from the Deaf community with 70 delegates from 27 different countries. The delegates were bought by the Irish Deaf Society who had organized the conference in working together with the European Union of the Deaf. We were also honored to have Colin Allen, President of the World Federation of the Deaf visit the Deaf Village Ireland all the way from Australia. We would sincerely like to thank all the people who attended the event and made it a very special night. You will be able to find our launch article here.
Lastly we are pleased to announce that our brand new website was launched on the 29th of May 2013. It’s hard to believe that we are almost ten months in the new Deaf Village. There is a great buzz in the centre and everyone is impressed with the modern new buildings! We would like to say a big thanks to everyone for their support since it’s opening in September 2012. Your continued support at Deaf Village Ireland is much appreciated. Thanking you.
On another note I would like to announce that, I have decided to carry on as manager of Deaf Village Ireland for another year. I really enjoy working with the Deaf community! You will be able to find the statement here via our website.
